Planning: representation within the magazine

I think that it’s important that diversity is seen within my front covers, ranging with gender, race, age, sexual orientation and religion, by doing this I wish to represent underrepresented groups. I also wish for my audience to feel comfort in reading the articles and have a sense of relatability for them.

Idea 1) For my first potential front cover, I plan to do an edition on events, in specific festivals. I have a model that’s going to wear extreme makeup and glitter to incorporate intertextuality to the show Euphoria and potential shoot places will be at the festival sites.

Idea 2) For my second front cover I plan to do an edition on beauty and beauty standards and normalising common insecurities. By doing this I’ll pick out common insecurities like acne, tooth gaps and weight insecurities in my models in order to defy the typical beauty standard and normalise these traits. This will create a diverse landscape that will appeal to my target audience and inclusive of everyone.

Idea 3) Another potential front cover I plan to do an edition on non traditional weddings. I will dress my models in clothes that won’t be perceived as a typical wedding dress in locations like the beach or a garden like scenery with is not like the typical church wedding. By doing this I’m trying to remove the pressure and stigmas surrounded my traditional weddings and offer alternative looks for a wide range of brides.

Idea 4) Another potential front cover I plan to do is an edition on sports, in particular women’s sport. This appeals to my target audience and will encourage young women to get more involved and draw more attention to women’s sports. I will take my model to a sports court or track and shoot them performing in their event. This will help to normalise sport women and promote it to become more popular for both men and women to watch.
